FRIDAY :

The opening presentation will outline some transitions that often accompany a mental illness.  Tom Smith will recall the emotional transitions that he and his family experienced when his daughter, Karla, was diagnosed with clinical depression which eventually lead to her tragic death by suicide. 


Nanci Schiman, will share the transitions her family has gone through in light of both her youngest and her oldest daughters being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.  She will discuss what has worked, what hasn't and what the family has learned through the process.
Kelly Gable and Melanie Wylie will talk about how a variety of different treatment options can be used for all age groups.

SATURDAY:

Linea Johnson and her mother, Cinda Johnson, will share their journey through the initial diagnosis and treatment of a mental illness. They will discuss dealing with high school depression, hospitalizations and the struggle to understand and accept mental illness.  They will also present information, resources and suggestions for
supporting adolescents and young
adults with mental health conditions as they transition to life after high school.
